HORSE VET ALGARVE
Ambulatory equine clinic dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of sport and leisure horses, providing the best service for your animal. We use state-of-the-art technology and your animal’s well-being is our priority. Our main areas of activity are the Algarve (southern Portugal) and Andalusia (southern Spain). The clinic has partnerships with leading hospitals in both countries and with specialist vets.
DR. MARIA JOANA CAMPOS
Maria Joana Campos is a veterinary surgeon with a master’s degree from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Lisbon (Portugal, 2016) and a doctorate from the University of Córdoba (Spain, 2023). She has done numerous internships in outpatient clinics with renowned equine veterinarians in both Portugal and Spain. She did long-term internships at: Kawell Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre (Buenos Aires, Argentina), University of Barcelona Equine Hospital (Barcelona, Spain), University of Vienna Equine Hospital (Vienna, Austria), San Vicente Raspei Equine Hospital (Alicante, Spain). She spent a year as an intern at the Equine Hospital of the University of Córdoba, where she was able to learn from renowned equine veterinary graduates.
Her final internship was at the Coudelaria Cárdenas (Seville, Spain), owners and breeders of Olympic horses, under the guidance of Professor Dr Francisco Requena Domenech, where she had the opportunity to deepen and consolidate her knowledge.
Every year Dr. Maria Joana Campos takes part in various congresses abroad, such as WEVA, BEVA, AVEE and ISELP. Due to her great interest in sports medicine, she organises practical courses for equine veterinarians in Portugal with Professor Jean-Marie Denoix.
